God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Psalm, 46:1-3.
This psalm is the perfect medicine when you feel as though everything around you is shaking. This is a Psalm for the troubled heart. This Psalm is a promise of God’s presence. God appears at the very beginning of the passage. Verse one he does not appear as an impersonal supreme being who set the world in motion. Yes, God is a big God, but he loves us and cares for us.
God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. God is surprised or shaken by things we go through. He is stirred and moved with compassion and love for us. This should bring us peace? God will still all the wickedness, pain, and sorrow of this life when He soon returns. This fact brings peace for us. We need not fear when money gets tight, the doctor’s report doesn’t sound so positive, or the very foundations of our homes and family are shaken.
Even at times, when it seems as though God cannot be found while people are doing unspeakable things to one another, we can stand on his promises. He is there? Romans 8:28, says: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are the called according to his purpose.
It does not say, some things or this or that thing, but ALL things! Psalm 46 begins and ends with God, just as each day and each life does. God is with us, he helps us and comforts us. He will never leave nor forsake you, Hebrews 13:5 even when the world around you is shaking. Trust him – he will bring you safely through? To be a Christian is literally to be Christ like. We are to be a reflection of Christ to this world not a bad reflection upon him! You cannot live wrong and die right.
