Sin lieth at the door

By Lee Roy Anderson

If thou doest well shalt not thou be accepted? And if thou doest not well sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire and thou shalt rule over him. Genesis 4:7.

Cain is being offered a choice by God. Sin is closer than it appears. Sin lieth at the door. God offered Cain a way out, but also gave him a harsh reality. Sin was lying at the door and was closer than it appeared. The first chapter of James reminded us again of the dangers of the tempting power of sin. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then, when lust hath conceived it, it bringeth forth death. James 1:14-15, James 1:25 also reminds us that we must continueth to look for the word of God. The word of God is not something we should pick up just when we are in trouble or in need of answers. Honestly, I doubt any of us forget to look into a natural mirror sometimes multiple times a day. If our natural face is that important to us, how much more should the word of God be used to show us that sin is lurking and lying at the door. But by ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself and goeth his way and straightaway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

But those who look into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein, being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, that man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:22-25.

Today, the enemy of God does not mind so much if His children sing, pray, fellowship, and worship. But if they were to get serious about serving God, watch out. Let people get on fire for Jesus and decide that going through the motions is not enough, then you will see real trouble come. We must commit ourselves to stand, fight, and to stay by God’s grace on our homes, families, churches, lives.

even at times when it seems as though God cannot be found while people are doing unspeakable things to one another, we can stand on His promises. He is there. Romans 8:28 says, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are the called according to His purpose.

It does not say “some things” or “this or that” thing, but all things. He helps us and comforts us, He will never leave or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5. Even when the world around you is shaking, trust Him. He will bring you safely through. You cannot live wrong and die right.
