Salt & Sonshine – March 15, 2017
1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Whether you are aware of it or not there is a war going on and you are somewhere in it. It is not a war of nations I am speaking of. It is not a war of cultures. It is not a war of racism. It is not even a war of sicknesses.
It may seem that it is a war against sickness and disease but it is far more than that. It is a war in the spirit realm and it is a war to the death. It is easier for us to focus on the things we see and attribute our difficulties accordingly. Some blame heredity and others adverse weather.
Some think God is punishing them for their dilemmas. God is love and desires to do you no harm. However, there is a devil on the loose and he will do all he can to destroy you. Look at Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jesus died on Calvary’s cross that you might have a life free from sin and condemnation. The devil (Satan, thief) will do all he can to destroy you anyway he can. He will steal your joy or your good name. He will try to put sickness and disease on you. He will kill you if you let him. It may be a sudden “accident” or it may be a little at a time through discouragement, cancer or self pity.
It is a spiritual war we are engaged in. God wants you to be the victor and the devil wants you to be the victim. You make the choice. However, the choice is only the beginning. It must be followed by action. Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. That’s the choice you must make.
If you don’t submit yourself to God, the curses mentioned in Deuteronomy chapter 28 are waiting for you. When you submit yourself to God you are accepting what the Bible says about you and your situation and it must be alive in your heart. When that happens, you will begin to declare what God says about your situation, through faith and depend on God to bring it to pass. Easy? Absolutely not. The devil will fight you all the way.
That is why Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:12 to fight the good fight of faith. It isn’t too hard to figure out the good fight is the one we win. Neither you nor I am immune from this warfare. No one can make the choices for you but you will find the answers in the Word of God. That is one reason God told us to search the scriptures. Will you?
