A Christian Nation? Or A CHRISTIAN NATION!

The choice is ours.  We are a country which is governed by the consent of its people.  Our President says we are no longer a Christian nation.  Our government was formed by men who by a 93% margin were Christians.  As an example, of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention, 28 were Episcopalians, 8 Presbyterians, 7 Congregationalists, 2 Lutherans, 2 Dutch Reformed, 2 Methodists, 2 Roman Catholics, 1 unknown and 3 deists.  President Calvin Coolidge said “The strength of ours country is the strength of its religious convictions.  President Abraham Lincoln said “in regard for this Great Book, I have this to say, it is the best gift God has given to man.  All the good Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book.
President Ronald Reagan said “Inside the Bible’s pages lie all the answers to all of the problems man has ever known…It is my firm belief that the enduring values presented in its pages have a great meaning for each of us and for our nation.  The Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds and refresh our souls.”  John Jay, first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said
“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
God’s purpose for this nation was for it to be a Christian nation.  Our founding fathers believed in the principles contained in the Bible.  Even those who did not live a Christian life, believed in the principles the Bible gave.  We have never been intolerant of other religions; in fact we have protected them with our laws and our blood.
If we have ceased to be a Christian nation, it is the fault of its people.  We elect those who represent our will.  We have been too trusting and too casual and have drifted away from the very foundation of our existence.  Secularism or humanism has replaced godliness.  We have come to trust government instead of God.  While the church slept, all sorts of evil has invaded our land.  While most Christians didn’t even vote, those who would lead us astray did.
Are we still a Christian nation?  We are if we choose to be.  If we do nothing, evil will prevail.  We have responsibility to family, our nation and to God.  We can tolerate evil or stand against it.  We can be silent or we can vote our conscience.  II Chronicles 7:14 says  “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  It takes all of us.  God still has a people, a remnant.
It seems that everybody else has come out of the closet; it’s time for the Christians to come out and stand as one, calling on, trusting and believing God.  Even a spokesman for the U.S. Army has said that Christianity is a danger to this nation.  We should be a danger to evil and to those who would try to destroy America’s Christian way of life.  May God’s Word prevail in this land of the free.  It’s time to establish again that, yes, WE ARE A CHRISTIAN NATION!  We trust God and believe His Word and choose to live by it.
