“In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth.” -Genesis 1:1. “God created man in his own image.” -Genesis 1:27.
The bible also reveals man and his need. Through the disobedience and sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve, the following results came about. “The ground was cursed,” -Genesis 3:17. “The subjection of woman to man.” -Genesis 3:16. “Exhausting physical labor.” -Genesis 3:19. “A fear of God and shame because of sin.” -Genesis 3:10. “Physical and spiritual death.” -Genesis 3:19, 5:5 and Romans 5:12.
The Bible not only reveals God and man but it also reveals God’s only plan of salvation for fallen man. Only the bible reveals how man can be saved and have his fellowship restored with God. We are saved or born again by believing what God says in his word. “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” -Romans 10:17. Only the Bible tells me where I am going. Only the Bible tells us about life after death and what lie beyond the grave. The Bible is my guide book to the country where I am going.
“Nevertheless we according to his promise look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.”- 2 Peter 3:13. I am looking for the world to come where there will be no more curse as we see in Genesis 3:17. You remember the curse came after Adam sinned in the garden. To say there is no more curse means there is no more sin. No more sin means no more sickness. No more sickness means there is no more sorrow. No more sorrow means there is no more suffering. Everything the curse of sin brought to mankind will be removed. This means there is no mysteries when we get to this city. Every question we have ever had will be made known to us. When we reach this holy city the faith becomes reality. No longer do we look through a glass dimly. “We see clearly all the things.” -1 Corinthians 13:12. The song writer put it best, “Oh, I want to see him, look upon his face, there to sing forever of his saving grace, on the streets of glory let me life my voice, cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice.”
A glimpse of glory. The brightness of that holy city. Can you imagine a place so bright there no need for a candle or even the sun? the Lord gives light in the holy city. Every child of God should be looking, watching, and waiting for the coming of the Lord. Can you imagine a perfect city? A place where there will be no need for hospitals? I’ll never have a headache, never attend a funeral, never go to a jailhouse or prison to talk to someone about their soul. That perfect city will be a wonderful, marvelous perfect place where there will be no sin, no sorrow, no pain, no war and no heartaches forever. I’m going to be home. I’m going to have a new body and a new home. Remember, he can make you a new person and start you on that journey today.
