By Quindora Dobbins

An elderly lady endured many sad and cruel things repeatedly done to her throughout her life. When she was young it troubled her terribly the fact those who she loved would mistreat her so uncaring. But as she got older it bothered her less and less.

The lady was now in her sixties and caring for her granddaughter for the weekend when one of her neighbors came up to her and began screaming that her trees was shedding all over her freshly manicured lawn.  The elderly lady tried to tell her that she could not control the Lord’s wind no more than she could control His leaves.

The granddaughter who took it all in then asked her grandmother why she allowed that woman to talk to her like that. The grandmother answered “I am setting my record and she is setting hers. Besides, God has allowed this to come before me and to see how I would handle it.” The little girl asked “like a test?” Grandmother said exactly. However; God does not tempt us with evil but he does permit it sometimes. Therefore I count it an honor that he has chosen to allow me to stand before the enemy and come out victorious through Jesus Christ who is my stronghold.

The little girl hugged her and said “Grandma, when I get old I want to be just like you.”

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
