How can we ever thank all of you who helped make this Christmas outstanding for so many of the needy in Clay County? We the Clay County High School, We Care Club would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to our community volunteers, students, teachers, county school administrators and the many people who gave and raised money for our cause. These volunteers are the heroes of our efforts for without these people we would not have the means to accomplish our goals. You all know who you are and what you have done. We also know that God knows who these people are and my prayer is that He will reward you abundantly.
I would like to thank Norman Ramsey for coordinating our food drive and making sure that our food boxes were delivered. I would like to thank Bobbie Morris (My Brother’s Keeper) and Lindy Carper and their husbands for helping them in coordinating the Angle Tree Project this year. I would like to thank Bob Morris and his students for helping with this project for the last twenty five years. Our annual food drive would be impossible without his help. It is amazing how many families and children were touched by these volunteers and their husbands this year. It is hard for one to tell others how much time and effort goes into the planning and the execution of an event like the We Care Christmas Drive. If everything had not been planned and if we had not allowed God to guide and direct us this Christmas our efforts could have been in vain. It seems though that when tough times come, some people in Clay County always stand up and are counted. Without all the hundreds of hours of volunteer work and the contributions made by Clay County people, churches and our fund raisers there are many things in this county that would go undone. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who had a part in this year’s drive.
The scriptures are explicit in telling us that we need to be our brother’s keeper and that we need to help those in distress or need. In Matthew 25:35–39: “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”We feel that many of the students who help with the Christmas drive come away from the experience with a sense of self-worth and accomplishment in that they have helped someone.
We hope that this New Year will be a good one and we hope the Lord will bless you with good health and whatever you need. It has been said that charity is an outward expression of caring, loving and wanting to help others.. I believe that there is a golden thread of truth running through all love, and it points toward kindness, joys in giving, caring, and the warmth of being connected with others. We feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for students and adults alike to learn a lot about what it really means to have a compassionate heart and a need to want to help others in volunteering.
Without the love of God in our hearts, life weakens and light vanishes, but the mere thought of expressing more of God’s love draws forth better feelings about us and others, and our entire life. Thank you for sharing your love God’s love with other people.
On a Personal Note! The Hazel Stover family would like to thank all of you who have called, sent cards and even brought food to us. Mom is holding her own and is in high spirits and we are so proud as a family to still have her in our lives. Please pray that the Lord will help bring healing to her hip.
