I Peter 1:2 says: “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” Read it again and let the Spirit of God minister this word unto your spirit.
First of all, this is a word written unto God’s elect, to those who have a relationship with Him and are looking for His coming. I hope that is you. It is not for the lukewarm and half-hearted. It is to the elect.
Secondly, the Word tells us that what is about to transpire is by the foreknowledge of God. It was determined long ago. God set the standard and watches with an expectation.
Next see that it is by the sanctification of the Spirit. We see that it is for God’s elect, by the standard of God the Father’s foreknowledge and it is through the sanctification of the Spirit of God. He must have free course in your life to bring about the changes that are according to the foreknowledge of God so God can bless you with His promises to the believer.
The verse continues by telling us that the Spirit’s working in us, sanctifying us to the place that we become obedient to God’s will. That will bring us to the next declaration in this verse. We must be sprinkled by the blood of Jesus Christ. Can you see God working by His foreknowledge, the Spirit sanctifying and the Blood of Jesus Christ cleansing by His blood? What then?
Then, grace and peace will be multiplied to you. Now look at verse 13 of 1
1 Peter Chapter 1: “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” As you renew your mind to the Word of God and begin to think by God’s standard instead of the world’s or religion’s: you are a candidate to receive revelation of Jesus Christ. But I know who Jesus is and I was saved long ago you say. Look again at verse 2. It is written to the Elect, not the world. What am I saying? There is more of Jesus than we have come to know and it will only be revealed to us as we become more and more sanctified by the Spirit of God and seek Him first. You may be saved and still not “know” that He is also the healer. You might be saved and believe that He can heal and still not “know” that He is the baptizer in the Holy Ghost. You may know all that and not “know” that He is your intercessor, advocate and friend. Even when you know these things, just how deep is your knowledge in these declarations of the Word. Sometimes a declaration given in the Word is like the menu at a restaurant. Until you taste for yourself and experience for yourself you don’t really “know.” The revelation mentioned in verse 13 is an impartation into your spirit that is quickened and made alive. How hungry are you to know Him in a deeper way?
