Richard Wayne Samples

Richard Wayne Samples, 80, of York, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 8, 2022 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Mary Lee (Brown) Samples.  Mr. and Mrs. Samples were married for 55 years on June 10, 2022.

Born November 18, 1941 in Clay County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James Lee and Chessie (Rhodes) Samples.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran serving as 1st Lieutenant.

Richard received his Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia Tech and his Master of Engineering through the U.S. Government.  He retired in June 2007 as an engineer for the U.S. Government.  

Richard was an active member of Roundtown Baptist Church, Emigsville, PA.

In addition to his wife, Mary Lee, he is survived by his three sons, Brian Samples and his wife, Andi, of Brogue, PA; Jeff Samples and his wife, Christy, of Dover, PA; and David Samples and his wife, Suellen, of Fredericksburg, VA; his daughter, Andrea Spruill and her husband, Shawn of Havre de Grace, MD; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Roundtown Baptist Church, 3175 North George Street, Emigsville, PA with Pastor Joe Moore officiating.  A flag folding presentation by the York County Veterans Honor Guard was held at 1:30 p.m. at the church.  A viewing was held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay, West Virginia.
