Richard Lewis Vaughan was welcomed into his Savior’s arms on November 17, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1947, to Glada and Ray Vaughan of Ivydale, one of 13 children

Richard was passionate about his beautiful garden, his Grandchildren, Bluegrass music, his Church (Nebo Baptist Church) and Church family, and he loved sitting on the porch with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lisa Lowe Vaughan; his sons Rusty (Marina) of Beckley and Aaron (Connie) of Norfolk, VA; stepdaughter Rebekah Nuckles of Salisbury, PA; grandsons Jacob, Jon and Justin; granddaughters Sidney, Sarah and Sadie; and great-grandchildren Enzley and Lincoln. He is also survived by brothers Harold of Ivydale and Terry and Garrett of Cross Lanes; sisters Gloria Woods and Jewel Browning of Strange Creek, Joyce Samples of Frametown, Sharon Vaughan of Charleston, and Shyrle Samples of Clay. Those who have gone before him are his sister Jean, and brothers Roger, Larry and James (Bimbo).

Richard served in the United States Army and retired from Frontier Communications.
He will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and his kind smile.

Services were held at Nebo Baptist Church on November 27, 2023, with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm and the service was held at 2:00 pm with Kenneth Tanner and Dwight Goff officiating.

Wilson-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Wilson Smith was honored to serve the Vaughan family.
