Clay—- Rev. Paul David Parsons, 85, formerly of Clay, entered into rest Thursday, November 10, 2016.
Born June 5, 1931, in Clay, he was the son the late Delford and Lydia (Hensley) Parsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Parsons.
Paul was an US Army veteran serving in the Korean War, retired bus driver for Clay County and owned and operated the Clay Exxon garage and service station on Main Street for many years; he was pastor for Rogers Fork Baptist Church.
Paul is survived by his sons, William (Nancy) Parsons, Lewis (Judy) Parsons; daughters, Wanita Carr, Wilma Parsons and Deanna Hubbard; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Delford Parsons Jr.; and sister, Garnett Parsons.
Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Brent Wiley officiating. Burial will be in Little Laurel Point Cemetery, Newton.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
