Ovapa– Rebecca Lurlene Doss, 90, of Ovapa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 1, 2016, with her children by her side.
Born on August 13, 1926, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Hallie and Flora Johnson Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Doss; son, Raymond Junior; brothers, Robert and Jimmy Hill; and sisters, Ruth Stephenson and Betty Hill.
She was a Clay County High School graduate, Class of 1948, a caregiver and a member of Grannies Creek Goodwill Community Church.
Survivors include her sons, John R. Doss II (Teresa) of Pisgah, Frank Doss of Ovapa and Richard Doss (Joyce) of Ovapa; daughters, Karen Sue Cutlip of Ovapa, Deborah Lynn Hutchinson of Duck, Patty R. Mahan of Big Otter (late Tom Mahan) and Leslie Lively of Dunbar; daughter-in-law, Lynn Doss of Huntington; brother, Hallie Lincoln Hill; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Wilson–Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home with Minister Charles Swinney officiating. Burial followed in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.
Friends called one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
