Ovie Fitzwater

Lodi CA – Ovie Fitzwater, 88 of Lodi, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Akron General Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born April 16, 1925 in Harrison, WV to Jack and Emma (Rose) Fitzwater.

He spent his childhood and young adult life in the Clay County West Virginia area and moved to Lodi in the mid-1950’s. He worked as a welder at Leslie Locke in Lodi for 30 years, and later retired from Cloverleaf Schools where he was employed as a custodian. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Salem.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie (Underwood) who he married on January 12, 1966 in Two Run Baptist Church, WV; daughter, Lily (Ivan) Clifford of Lodi; granddaughters, Heather and Sabrina; and two sisters, Artie Beard of Lodi and Alcie Brady of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Flossie Sattler, brother Odie and Brother-in-law Russell Beard.

Parker and Son Funeral home handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Medina County SPCA, 245 South Medina St., Medina, OH 44256.
