Nelson Edward Smith

Elkview, WV – Nelson Edward Smith, 69, of Elkview, died Sunday, August 4, 2013, in the CAMC-General Hospital, Charleston.
He was born March 24, 1944 in Roane County, a son of the late Floyd Nelson and Gladys Lorraine Downey Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lorraine Smith; and a sister, Delores Dills.
Nelson was a retired equipment operator. He was a member of the North American Hunt Club. Also, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his best friend and companion, Charleen Smith of Elkview; sister, Carol McConnell of Spencer; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Fred Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhomeinc.com
