Wallback, WV – Mary Florence Stephenson Hensley, 84, entered into rest Friday, January 16, 2014 her home in Wallback.

Born April 12, 1930 in Clay, she was the daughter of the late Martin Van Buren and Florence (Sizemore) Stephenson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon David Hensley, Sr.; son-in-law Daniel Mayes; sisters, Janie Coulter, Virginia Burg, Gladys Jones, Ann Capaziella, Frances Dodrill, Nancy Stephenson, and Helen (Sammy) Thomas; brothers, George Stephenson, Frank Stephenson, David Stephenson, and 2 infant brothers.

She attended Morris-Harvey College in Charleston, and graduated with a B.A. in Education; Mary retired after 37 year career as a school teacher in the Clay Country School System. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Clay.

Mary is survived by her son, Vernon Hensley and daughter-in-law Cheryl Nichols  of Wallback, daughters, Juanita Delena Lutz Mayes of Looneyville and Karen Mae Boggs of Charleston; 8 grandchildren, Stephen and Rebecca Hensley, George and Kirsten Lutz, Jason and Amy Boggs, Mariah Marling and Amanda Mitchem.

Celebration of Life Memorial will be held later in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, family ask donations be made to UNICEF or Save the Children.
