Jackie D. “Gus” McClung

Glen Ferris — Jackie D. “Gus” McClung, 83, of Glen Ferris, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at his home, after an extended illness.
Born July 30, 1933, in Glen Ferris, he was the son the late Saunie and Vexta (Woods) McClung. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Andrew F. McClung; and sister, Miriam L. Parsley.
Gus was retired manager for the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission, and was a former funeral home apprentice having worked at the former Combs Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge, he was an Army Veteran and a member of the Moose Legion and the Montgomery Lions Club.
Gus is survived by one niece, Janie Workman of Charleston; two great nephews, Andrew Workman of Charleston and Patrick Workman of Concord, N.C.; and one great niece, Sarah Workman of Charlotte, N.C.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Minister Sal Bria officiating. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Mausoleum, Victor.
Friends may gather with family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank special friends Joe Ice and Angie Hudson for their help and support.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice or Kanawha Humane Society, Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311.
