Summersville — Irene Macel Nutter, 88, of Summersville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
She was the daughter of the late Ted Summers and Inez Mae Ford and was born at Whitewater November 2, 1928. Irene was a homemaker and member of the Pierson Chapel United Methodist Church at Whitewater. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Irene enjoyed researching family history and her descendents number 111, plus four on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.O. “Shorty” Nutter; daughter, Sharon Neff; son, Phillip Nutter; granddaughter, Christina Irene Valentine; brother, William Summers; and sister, Mary Woodall.
Surviving are four sons, Buddy, Jeffery (Lolita), all of Clay, Stephen (Dina) of Werth, and Jackie Nutter (Jean) of Battle Run; three daughters, Charlotte Hypes (Ray) of Poe, Julie Quinn and Francine Hubbard (Jerry), all of Clay; 102 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and her cats, whom she loved.
A strong independent intelligent woman, she will be missed by many who loved her.
Friends called at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday July 8, 2017.
