Irene “Jo” Stella Shafer

Irene “Jo” Stella Shafer, 66, Ovapa, entered into rest Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Born July 13, 1952. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Dillon Dawson; sister, Rachel J. Peck; and brother, Sherman E Branard.

She was a devout Christian, attended Grannies Creek Community Church and taught the beginners Sunday School Class for several years.  She loved the outdoors and was competitive when it came to hunting.  Jo will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jo is survived by her husband, Johnny Shafer of Ovapa; son, Sherman (Stacy) Pritt of Hansford Fork; daughters, Vicky (Michael) Lynch of Ovapa; Samantha (Allen) King of Maysel; sons, Johnny (Aura) Shafer  of St. Petersburg , FL; Jeromy (Sherri) Shafer of Elkview; Hank (Amy) Shafer of Spokane, WA; and two sisters, Wilma Johnson and Kathleen “Sue” Pritt of Summersville; brother, Hyman “Junior” Branard of Dixie; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 30, at Wilson-Smith Funeral Home, with Minster Marco Pritt officiating.  Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback.

Friends gathered with family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
