Hubert Wayne Oxley

Springfield, OH – Hubert Wayne Oxley, 80, of Springfield, OH passed away on September 15, 2014.  He was born December 28, 1933 in Clay, WV.  He was a graduate of Clay County High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate Second Class, serving from December 1955 to November 1959.  He retired from Cincinnati Plumbers and Pipefittters Local No. 392.  He was a member of Pantano Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ; serving in many ways, including as a deacon.

He is the son of the late Homer F. Oxley and Myrtle (Chandler) Oxley.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois Jean (McQueen) Oxley; his brother, Kermit Oxley and wife, Sharon, of Gilbert, AZ; two sisters, Wanita Gray and husband “Bum” Auddis, of Clay, WV, and Audrey Gillenwater of Peoria, AZ; a half-sister, Ernie Lee Eatman of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd “Ray” Oxley, Homer Fleet Oxley Jr. and Delbert Oxley; two half-brothers, Oral Oxley and Harry Oxley; and three sisters, Leona Nichols, Wanda Pearl Puma and Mildred Chapman.

Both services for Mr. Oxley were held at the Harrison Avenue Baptist Church, 1125 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, OH on Thursday, September 18, 2014.  Visitation was from 9:30 – 11:00 AM and the funeral services at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Glen Foster and Pastor Dan Rowland officiating.  Burial followed in Glen Haven Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Harrison Funeral Detail.
