Toronto, OH – Gail L. Boggs, 79, of Toronto, OH, passed away in peace at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH, on Sept. 8, 2013.
He was born February 7, 1934 in Wallback, WV, a son of the late Hugh H. and Carrie A. Boggs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh H. Boggs II and his sister, Jean Boggs.
Gail was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto where he served as an usher and elder.
He was a graduate of Clay County High School, Glenville Sate College and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton.
Gail was a long-time educator. He began his career as a librarian for Champion School District in Champion, OH. Later, he worked as Media Center Director for Toronto City Schools and at one time, Principal of Franklin Elementary School. After retirement, Gail and his wife, Dolores, enjoyed several years as owners of Bogg’s Video Memories.
Gail will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Dolores Black Boggs; daughter, Cheryl A. Clapham and her husband, Bill; grandchildren, Christopher L. Clapham and Carrie A. Clapham; and great-grandchildren, Jory, Zoe, Brylee and Matix Clapham all of Toronto, OH.
He is also survived by a brother, Frederick L. (Ruth) Boggs of Charleston, WV; sister, Janet Crisco, of Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
Friends were received on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 2- 4 and 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church 116 N. Third St. in Toronto, OH on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 12 noon with Rev. Michael Bongart officiating. There was additional visitation held at the church on Thursday from 11 am til time of services at noon.
