Doris Davis Arnold passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, after a brave and courageous fight with cancer.
Doris was born at Ivydale. She graduated from Clay High School in 1961 with 12 years of perfect attendance. Family was of the utmost importance to Doris. Everyone who visited was always greeted with open arms and offered a hot meal. If you were “lucky,” you would get a dish of her hot jam or fudge.
Doris was the youngest of eight and was preceded in death by much of her family: father, Austin Davis; mother, Chessie Davis; sister, Genevieve (George) Flaugher; brother, Wilson Perry Davis; sister, Delores (Stoney) Stoner; sister, Pearl Davis; brother, Elwood (Linda) Davis; and brother, Arthur (Helen, surviving) Davis.
Doris Davis Arnold is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Albert “Charlie” Arnold; daughter, Gail (Gary) Bane; brother, Ferrell (Alice) Davis; and light of her life and grandson, Alex Arnold.
The family would like to thank numerous family, friends and neighbors who have been a constant in her life.
Service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, at Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, with Pastor Billy Burdette officiating. Burial followed at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, at Hafer Funeral Home. Friends also called one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Online condolences and memories may be placed at www.haferfuneralhome.net.
Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, is assisting the Arnold family.
