Cheryl Lynn Holcomb, 67, of Newton, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at her home.

She was born March 10, 1956, at Charleston the daughter of the late Kermit A. and Betty L. Bird Rogers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Holcomb.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer D. Holcomb of Charlotte, NC  and Leah M. and Jeremy Quinn of Indore; grandsons, Garrett M. Quinn and Jackson H. Quinn; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Rick Wilkinson of Charleston, AR; a niece, who was like another daughter, Kacie (Scott) Holcomb of Newton; nephew, Luke Wilkinson of Charleston, AR; additional nieces, Carissa (Raymond) McDonald of Galt, MO, Jessy (Bryan) White also of Galt, MO, Julie (Justin) Bartlett of Chillicothe, MO, Rebecca Wilkinson of Bolivar, MO and Kerrie Smith; grandnieces and grandnephew, who she considered as additional grandchildren, Katie Young, Mahailey Nicholson, Marissa Holcomb and Gabe Holcomb; several additional grandnieces and grandnephews.

Cheryl started a career in the coal mines in the mid 1970’s and retired after 30 years. She was a proud member of the U.M.W.A., Local 8843. Cheryl was an avid gardener and enjoyed floral arranging and taking care of her house plants. She was an exceptional cook and baker who took pride in teaching her daughters, Jennifer and Leah, and her niece, Kacie, all of her tips and tricks in the kitchen.

Cheryl liked playing rook and other card games with family and friends. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 at the Tawney Cemetery, Newton with Rev. Dennis Legg officiating. 

Immediately following the graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Kacie and Scott Holcomb, 818 Blown Timber Road, Newton, WV 25266.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting with arrangements.
