Marietta, OH – Charles Patrick King, 90, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio, following a long illness.

Charles was the son of the late Edward W. and Rhoda J. (Allen) King. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, Ray, Roy and Ralph King, and sister, Margaret Abbott.

Charles was a baptized member of South Parkersburg United Methodist Church on Dec. 16, 1973. He served the Lord and the church on Rayon Drive faithfully for the last 41 years. He was part of a week-long mission trip refurbishing electricity to homes following the devastation of Hurricane Hugo. He helped with numerous electrical projects for his local church, wiring much of the fellowship hall and helping with construction. He served in a number of ministries, many of those ministries from the time he joined the church. Charles was president of the United Methodist Men at his local church and was named District Man of the Year and, later, State Man of the Year. He was a very spiritual man who loved the Lord and lived his faith daily, always thinking of others. He was a member of Mount Olivet No. 3 Lodge AF&AM and Scottish Rite Bodies of Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mable I. (Pritt) King; sister, Mary Lawrence of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles’ funeral service was noon Saturday, Feb. 8, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, with the Rev. Jim Plyburn officiating. Burial was at E.W. King Cemetery, Bomont.

His family received friends one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be expressed online at www.maticsfuneralhome.com.
