Burnard Dale Hamrick

Elkview, WV — Burnard Dale Hamrick, 83 of Elkview, WV, went home to be with the Lord. The Angels rang their golden bells to welcome Dale home at 10:52 a.m. on March 16, 2017.

Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jesse and Dora Hamrick; two Brothers, David and Jack Hamrick; and a sister, Chatta Hamrick Gill.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Dodrill Hamrick of Elkview, WV; and three sons, Terry Hamrick of Dunbar and wife Melissa Caryl, Mark Hamrick of Berkeley Springs, WV, and wife Kim, and Matthew Craig Hamrick of Elkview, WV and wife Cynthia; sister, Alice Hamrick Morrow and husband, Dean of North Port, FL; seven grandchildren, Ashley Hamrick of Huntington, WV, Chrystal Hamrick of Charlotte Hill, MD, Ricky Hamrick of Centreville, MD, Jason Hamrick of Lexington, KY, Nick Hamrick of Charleston, WV, Christina Hamrick Baber and husband Michael of South Charleston, WV, and Melissa Hamrick of South Charleston, WV; one great-granddaughter, Shealyn Hamrick; three step-grandchildren, Christina Skiles Phalen, Brandon Skiles, and Holley Skiles Workman; and two step-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Workman and Chris Workman Jr.

Dale was a graduate of Widen High School, Widen, WV. He served in the Air Force as a sergeant in the Korean War. He was a retired dozer operator from Union Carbide in Sanderson, WV. Dale was a loving Husband of 61 years, a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dale taught his Sons how to be a Christian, husband, and gardener. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandchildren, with many more memories he has left in their hearts.

Dale was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with 53 years of attendance. He was an ordained deacon, a Sunday School teacher, mentor, and loving friend to all.

In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund.

We would like to thank hospice, in home care nurses and caregivers for their kindness. We would also like to thank family and friends for visiting, bringing food, and their thoughts and prayers in our time of need.

Service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday March 19, 2017, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Gym with pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial took place at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Gym. Online condolences can be made at www.haferfuneralhome.net.

Hafer Funeral Home is assisting the Hamrick family.
