Atha Sigman Dawson

Atha Sigman Dawson, 94, of Gandeeville, entered into rest July 28, 2017.

She was born February 19, 1923, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late John Owen and Emily Ann Butcher Sigman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dawson; infant daughter, Naiomi Ruth Dawson; daughter, Verelene Dawson Boggs; stepdaughters, Zella Wilson, Edith Gibson and Thelma Letterman; stepson, Everett Dawson; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Gandeeville Church of Christ and a homemaker. She loved studying her Bible, doing Bible lessons, gardening, reading, cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Brice Kiser of Gandeeville and Cindy and Ike Boggs also of Gandeeville; stepdaughters, Velma Hall of Monticello, FL, Madeline Mollohan of Duck, Mildred (Chuck) Sumner of Checotah, OK; three grandsons, three granddaughters, seven great grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchilden; and special neighbors, Oris and Johnnie Harper.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 2 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Minister Dan Kessinger officiating. Burial will be in the Hardman Cemetery, Nebo. The visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
