Andrew Willis Carr, 95, of Wallback, West Virginia entered into eternal rest at home on March 17, 2025.
Andrew was born on January 29, 1930, in Little Laurel, West Virginia. He is the son of the late Ora Jane Crawford and Clyde Carr. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Andrew worked in Ohio then moved back to his beloved home State of West Virginia. He retired from Pennzoil Gas Company after 30 years of service. He enjoyed the great outdoors such as hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, gensenging, ramp digging, foraging morels and gardening. He could always find a 4-leaf clover on his outdoor adventures. He was a fierce competitor throughout his life, playing croquet, horseshoes, softball, badminton, but most important Rook. These activities with family and friends kept his and Maysel’s home full of love and laughter that bonded the Carr clan. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. No one left his home without freely feeling welcome and recognized. He loved the Lord and showed Christian like characteristics to all with acceptance and grace.
He was preceded in death by wife, Maysel Murl Carr; daughter, Sheila Joyce Parkins; brother Fletcher Carr; sisters, Faye Mylnes, May Brown, Virena Kyle and Wanita Cain.
He is survived by daughters, JoAnn Gould (Jay) of Montgomery, West Virginia, Delores Dangerfield (Clyde) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and son, Michael Carr (Kathleen) of Mink Shoals, West Virginia. Ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV with B.J. Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:00pm – 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery, Wallback, WV.
