Two employees of Glenville State College’s Office of Financial Aid, Michelle (Koch) Hypes and Amber Hamric, recently were certified in several nationally-recognized programs. After attending two days of financial aid training and taking eleven separate tests, the pair received certification in: federal methodology, cost of attendance, student eligibility, return of Title IV funds, verification, campus-based programs, professional judgment, direct loans, federal Pell Grants, packaging and notification of awards, and the application process. The certifications took place through the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) credentialed training program.
“Amber and Michelle’s dedication to the work of GSC’s Financial Aid Office is very much appreciated and recognized. They demonstrate commitment to the needs of our students and work tirelessly to answer questions and solve problems to assist them in their quest for a college education,” said Part Time Financial Aid Director Karen Lay.
Hypes received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from GSC in 2011 and, after working in a different department, transferred to Financial Aid in February 2015. She is originally from Maysel but currently resides in Glenville with her husband Adam and their son Jonathan.
In addition to receiving certificates to commemorate their achievements, Hypes and Hamric also were featured, alongside other GSC employees who had previously completed similar certifications, in the Credentials Honor Roll section of the ‘NASFAA News.’
