Clay County Commission held their meeting on Wednesday, January 13th. The regular action items, minutes of the previous meeting, bills and purchase orders, budget revisions, were approved. Fabian G. Brown was appointed Administrator of the estate of Robin Dale Brown, deceased. The motion to confirm probating the Will of Dallas Lee Stutler and the appointment of Geneva Lacy and Richard Jones, co-executors, was approved. A hearing for the estate of Roger Lee Nichols will be held on February 10, 2016 due to an objection filed regarding the “Final Settlement” report filed by Lisa Chenoweth, Administratrix at 1:30p.m.
A request by the WV State Tax Department to make corrections to the 2016 mineral assessments after December 15, 2015, was approved. The Tax Department will be able to make corrections through February 3, 2016.
The Clay County Business Development Authority requested the appointment of Michael Shamblin as a board member, which was approved by the commissioners. Shamblin’s term will expire on January 13, 2019. Brandon Keiper was approved for reappointment to the BDA for a term expiring on January 22, 2018. Mitchell Deboard was approved for reappointment with a term expiring January 22, 2019.
The commissioners approved the transfer of Laura Scott’s payroll from Home Confinement Fund to the Sheriff-Treasurer budget effective January 1, 2016, and for Jeana Rounsville’s salary to come from the Home Confinement fund for Home Confinement duties and activities only, effective January 1, 2016.
Andrea Anderson was reappointed to the Queen Shoals Public Service District Board for a term expiring December 1, 2021. Avis Moore was appointed Ballot Commissioner representing the Democratic Party and Karen Nicholas was appointed Ballot Commissioner representing the Republican Party. Their terms of office will be effective for two years beginning February 1, 2016.
A motion to accept recommendations from the heirs of Billie Jane Zegeer estate regarding the status of said estate was approved and there will be another update at the County Commission meeting on March 9, 2016.
