The CCHS Panthers basketball team continues to play all out basketball on the road and at home; however, a win this season still eludes them. In most of the games this season, the boys have been in the hunt for the win but seem to come up just short in the second half. The boys had a couple of games on the hardwood this week, and first up was Hoover. Hoover and Clay have always been big rivals, and it would show in this game. The Panthers and the Huskies went at it tooth and nail and the score went back and forth, each gaining an edge then loosing it. At the half it was it was all tied up at 31 apiece. Noah Taylor, Jarred Legg, and Zach Ahart combined for 29 of those points. However, something seemed to change in the second half and the Panthers had a tough time getting their groove back and were out scored in the second half 26-37. The Panthers played well but came up short, final score 57-68. Braxton blew into town on Friday night, and it was more of the same thing- the Panthers go out and play as if possessed, and the game was a good one with the lead going back and forth. In the third period, the Panthers fell behind and in the fourth were having to play catch up ball and just ran out of time. Final score Panthers 57, Eagles 62. The boys will be in action again and will take to the hardwood on the road at Calhoun on January 13th and again on January 15th at Sissonville. If you get the chance, come out and root on the Panthers.
