A small creek in Bomont resembled a raging river when torrential downpours and heavy wind hit Clay County Saturday evening, causing downed trees, flooded streams, and power outages. The National Weather Service reported that 60 mph winds accompanied this storm as it passed through the state. Calls poured into the Emergency 911 Center of fallen trees blocking several roadways, which kept emergency personnel occupied for several hours. Once the storm moved past, no serious damage was reported although cleanup will be lengthy.
