The Mustang track team is back to making waves in the track world as they continue to dominate individually at some of the meets they attend and place high on the board at others. The Mustangs are a team that run like seasoned veterans and are a force to reckon with. Nothing but iron lungs, grit, and determination send this Mustang team to new levels as they continue to make peoples’ jaws fall out of place.

The Mustangs competed at the Sydney Boggs Memorial at Roane County on Friday. Mustang girls were once again in the top three teams, placing second just behind Braxton, while the boys placed 5th overall.

Some of the individual standouts were future running legend Marissa Atha who placed 1st in the 3200, 1st in the 1600 2nd in the 800-meter run and 2nd in the polevault. Danae Stricker placed 1st in the pole vault, 4th in the 400 and 6th in the 200 hurdles. Serina Stewart placed 5th in the shot put, and Savanha Neal placed 4th in discus. For the boys, the 4×800 meter relay team smoked the field placing 1st. Sam Hubbard placed 5th in the 200, 3rd in the 400 and 6th in the long jump. Holden Reed placed 5th in the 1600 and 4th in the 3200.

This Mustang team was not given much of a chance at the beginning of the season since they lacked a few runners. However, they have proven with each meet that they are there to win, and a team better have their fastest shoes on or otherwise they will be eating Mustang dust.
