Gates, NC- Albert Salisbury, 81, of 35 Northeast Drive, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 in his home.
Mr. Salisbury was born on November 10, 1932 in Clay County, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Orville and Dora Ann Rhodes Salisbury. Retired after serving 20 years in the United States Navy, he later worked as a Barber before retiring from Johnny’s Barber Shop at Robbins Corner in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Locella, Delphia, Elna, Erma and Geneva; and by brothers, Emery, Glenn, Kermit, and Alvie.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Nettie Jean Taylor Salisbury; two sons, Terry Salisbury and wife Patricia of Virginia Beach and Stanley Salisbury and wife Theresa of Gates; three daughters, Reba Midgett and husband Jeffrey and Rhonda Drennan and husband Peter, all of Virginia Beach, and Lynn Marie Hickey and husband William of Gates; a brother, James Salisbury of Ahoskie; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Reynoldson Baptist Church by the Rev. Cody Brinkley. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
