The Mustang football team had a tough, tough time Thursday night as they were on the road in Braxton. It looked as though the Mustangs and the Knights were pretty evenly matched. Early in the game, the Mustangs got on the board first with a Collins and Elliot air ball combo which netted a Mustang touchdown. They got the extra two points and the game energy was set for the rest of the evening. Not to be outdone, the Knights came back with a TD of their own, and the score stood Mustangs 8, Knights 6. The Mustangs got on the board again as Cooper Collins hit Lathan Brown in the end zone for their second score of the game. It looked as though the Mustang offense could score at will as they made the Knights defense look like they were standing still. When the half ended, the Mustangs were up on the Knights by the score of 16-12. This game was going to be one of the toughest they would face all season, and it was a much needed win if they could hold on. The Knights have been whipping all the teams they met with great bravado and counting of coup. That being said, the Mustangs proved to be the test for the Knights. However, the Mustang offense got shut down in the second half, and the Knights went on to win by the score of 26-16. This week the Mustangs will host Spencer, and it will be the Mustang’s football homecoming game. Come out and support the team as their season winds down.
In other football news, the Panthers brought home another win as they racked up the yards in Logan like poker chips in Vegas. It was a Noah Collins air show as he once again was in the neon throwing 42 times and hitting for 34. He also racked up 391 yards passing with four TDs. Leading the receiving was BJ Williams catching 11 times for 144 yards and four TDs. They totaled 501 yards total offense with 77 rushing yards. The final score of the game was Panther 48 Logan 14. The Panthers will be on the road again in Lincoln County this Friday. Go Panthers!
