Julie Frances Foster, 77, passed peacefully at her home in Lizemores surrounded by family on September 2, 2023.
Born on February 20, 1946, in Robson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Stover and Betty Lively. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Foster; brother Wayne Stover; sisters, Arbutus Beaver and Judy Taylor, grandson Leiland Lane, and great-grandson Eli Witt.
On June 30, 1962, at the age of 16, she married Guy Foster Jr., who she would spend the rest of her life with. Together they started a beautiful— and what would grow to be very large— family of four children, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Julie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devoted homemaker, but her duties often extended beyond the home, as she was a jack of all trades. She was hardworking and independent. She loved to go shopping— whether it was for clothes or knick-knacks to add to her ever-growing collection of things. She also took pride in her baking and cooking. Time was always best spent with family, and Julie’s home was the meeting place for countless holiday dinners, parties, and celebrations over the years. She was also a long-time member of Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children— Jesse Foster (Bernadine) of Lizemores, Greg Foster (Angela) of Elkview, Tammy Carte (Hansford) of Hico, and Angie Lane of Procious; Grandchildren— Christian Wilson (Jon), Tina Adkins (Jeremy), Jesse Foster (Taylor), Taylor Foster (David Summers), Alyssa Lucas (Russell), Ethan Foster (Danielle), Colby Osborne-Lane (Matt), Courtney Witt (Justin), Skylar and Shyanne Lane, and Shelby Carte (Mak Evans); Great-grandchildren— Gracie and Alex Perdue, Isaiah, Logan, and Jenna Adkins, Zoey, Abby, and Riley Foster, Addalyn Lucas, Brookelynn Foster, Levi and Laylah Witt; Brothers Matt and Michael Stover; Sisters Debbie Elswick, Christine Hill, and Penny Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will also be missed dearly by her sweet little poodle, Peaches.
Family and friends are invited to Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Lizemores on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 1 pm to celebrate the life of Julie. Services will begin at 2 pm with burial service to immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery in Bickmore.
