The stay-at-home order due to Coronavirus has canceled many upcoming events, including school events, in our area. With prom, graduation, and other gatherings up in the air at this point, many are jumping into action to recognize students in different ways.

Deliciously Vivid has come up with a plan to offer the graduating class of 2020 some recognition. This group is planning to mount banners with senior class photos and their names on utility poles throughout the town of Clay for all to see. They are asking if you can help with the cost of these banners to please contact Vanessa at vcoleman83@gmail.com.

With prom being canceled, Heather Clay Roush from Clendenin has also jumped into action to ensure not only her community, but the state of West Virginia, has a night to remember. She is in the process of organizing West Virginia Prom 2020. You must be a high school junior or senior to attend, with underclassman attending as guest of an upperclassman only. No one over 21 can attend as a guest. Must present Eventbrite ticket and form of school identification to enter. Event to be held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Charleston WV on Saturday, July 18, from 6 to 10 p.m.

This may be the first time in history that all schools have gathered for such an event. The theme will be the Great Gatsby and Prom King and Queen will be awarded. You can follow the planning of this event on Facebook at West Virginia Prom 2020 or by contacting Heather Clay Roush. Tickets can be purchased at https://myevent.com/wvprom2020.
