Colossians 1:13 declares: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,” This word is addressed to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ (Col. 1:2). God has done something for His children that is very powerful. The power of darkness no longer has any power over the true faithful in Christ. But because the power has been broken doesn’t necessarily mean that the benefit is being enjoyed as it should.
There are many believers (faithful) who still are bound in fear in many areas of their lives because they do not know or do not believe what God has declared in His Word. Satan still comes around and threatens, accuses or intimidates as he always has. The difference is, or should be, that it no longer has any impact. Instead of recoiling at Satan’s accusations, we have found the truth of God’s Word and apply it to our lives.
Evil may be all around you, and certainly it is, but it doesn’t have any authority to come into your house unless you permit it. When I say your house, I am speaking of your soul or your spirit. Just because Satan accuses don’t mean you have to receive it. You don’t have to buy into it. The Bible tells us that once we have done all, stand on the Word of God. Stand until you see the truth of God’s Word manifested. Stand in the face of adversity and speak the Word, trust the Word, believe the Word and praise God that His Word will come to pass.
Some pray a promise but remove it from the context from which it is written. If something is required, it is ignored and then they say it doesn’t work for them. When “if” is attached to the promise we must find out what the “if” means and when we do what is required, then we can expect what God has promised to come to pass. God will honor His Word. It behooves us to consider all His Word, not just the promise but the conditions as well. When He says “trust and obey” we cannot stop at trust, we must also obey. 2 Cor. 1:20 says “For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him amen, unto the glory of God by us.” You and I can study God’s Word and meditate on it and come to trust and believe it but only God can perform it. We must go beyond our understanding of God’s Word and seek to know God Himself by His Word. He will not fail to do what He said He would do.
