It was a good week of volleyball slapping action for the CCHS Lady Panther volleyball team. They are literally kicking some egos into the hard wood. They took their show on the road this week in a tri-match at Roane County against Roane and Ravenswood.
First up was Ravenswood, and the Lady Panthers wasted no time in taking care of business. They beat the Lady Red Devils in two straight games; the Lady Red Devils stood about as much as a chance as a snowball in … a furnace. It was a shellacking to say the least. Next up was a rematch against the Lady Raiders of Roane. At their last meeting, the Lady Panthers pulled out the whoop some butt attitude and gunned the volleyball down their dreams of winning the game. This was to be the same outcome with final scores of 25-14 and 25-17.
The girls then took their show on the road to the Nicholas County – a win here is almost as sweet as winning the regional competition. The Lady Grizzlies are always a tough match for the Lady Panthers, and this would be no different. During warm-ups, the Lady Grizzlies looked as if they were ready for the pro circuit. It was their home, their court, and their game to win. Those words work well in an epic novel but not on this night. As pumped up as the Lady Grizzlies were, their enthusiasm was quickly deflated as the Lady Panthers pulled the plug. No matter what they sent over the net, the Lady Panthers handed it back to them with some fire attached to it. The girls played like a well oiled machine defeating the Lady Grizzlies in three straight, 25-13, 25-22, and 25-12. To add a little icing to the cake, the Lady Panther JV team also turned on the fan and beat them 25-23 and 25-16. They stood about as much chance of winning as a half of a lottery ticket.
The Lady Panthers are now ranked 4th in the state and are well on their way to the next level. They will be back in action this week in a tri-match with Poca and Nicholas County barring any changes in the state color metrics.
Come out and support them on their bid to become champs.
