DMV Email Now Available for Customers—Should Decrease Wait Time

Attention licensed drivers and motor vehicle owners.  Do you have a question for the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles and would prefer not to wait in queue?  Until now, the direct line to DMV has been through the DMV Call Center number, 1-800-642-9066.  In an effort to better serve customers and decrease wait times on the phone, you may now email your questions directly to  DMVCallCenter@wv.gov.
According to Commissioner Pat Reed, “Our continued goal is to provide the best customer service to the citizens of West Virginia.  We believe that offering another avenue for people to ask questions will shorten phone wait times for customers that need to speak with someone or have immediate concerns.”
The most frequently asked questions that the DMV Call Center receives include:
1.    What documents are required to renew my driver’s license or identification card?
2.    I did not receive my renewal form. What do I need to renew my vehicle registration?
3.    How do I title a vehicle in my name?
4.    I am a new resident to WV. How do I transfer my vehicle title and driver’s license?
5.    Why is my driver’s license suspended? What do I have to do in order to get them reinstated?
Commissioner Reed said that DMV Call Center employees are trained to disseminate the emails to the appropriate section for response, with email response times averaging less than 24 hours during the course of a normal business week.  “We’ve had the email available for a couple months now, training our employees and encouraging callers to email any additional questions.  So far, response has been great,” she said.
For more information, please contact the WV DMV via email at  DMVCallCenter@wv.gov, or by calling 1-800-642-9066.  The DMV web site also contains answers to many frequently asked questions at www.dmv.wv.gov.
