Braxton County Senior Citizens Center will hold an Introduction to Genealogy class beginning on September 6. The class will meet right after lunch, from 12:30 to 1:30, to enable van passengers to attend prior to van departure time. Pencils and blank worksheets will be provided to students. The class will continue each Tuesday at the same time until the week of Thanksgiving. Interested persons may call the center at 304-765-4090 to register for this class.

The Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women, infants and children, under the age of five. WIC provides supplemental foods and nutrition education to qualifying participants. The West Virginia department of environmental protection and Fola Coal Company LLC (Fola) have proposed a settlement of a consent order which resolves violation(s) of the West Virginia water pollution control act. In accordance with the proposed consent order, Fola has agreed to pay administration penalties and to comply with the act. The annual 1954 Clay County High School Class Reunion will be held at Nancy’s Restaurant, located at the intersection of Rt. 4 and Rt. 16, Maysel, WV on September 14, 2016 at 3 p.m.
The 1961 graduating class of Clay County High School will hold its 55th Class Reunion on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Clay County High School in the band room beginning at 3:00pm until 8:00pm. The Class of 1962 will break for dinner at 5:00pm in the cafeteria. The dinner is sponsored by the Clay County Bank and in conjunction with the Clay County High School and widen High School alumni Gathering.
