Like much of Clay County, the Clay County Free Press is still recovering from the June 23 flood.
The newspaper office was submerged in water, and is currently undergoing repairs, but reporter and office manager Holly Nine assures all Clay County residents that she is keeping up with the tasks of running the newspaper.
Nine checks the mailbox and the office drop box every day, and makes all of the deposits daily as well. Most folks, she says, drop by her husband’s barber shop down the street if they need to reach her.
Since the June flood, Nine has been operating on her cell phone — people can contact her at 304-553-8529 and at news@claycountyfreepress.com.
“I’m basically doing all the same things I did before,” said Nine.
The Clay County Free Press office will reopen as soon as possible.
