President Obama has extended federal funding to eight West Virginia counties following last month’s mass flooding. The White House announced that state and eligible local governments and some private non-profit organizations in Braxton, Clay, Lincoln, Logan, Nicholas, Roane, Webster and Wood counties would be eligible for federal funding for emergency work to repair and replace structures damaged by storms, winds, floods and mudslides.
The US Small Business Administration has also announced that federal disaster loans are available for non-profit groups in those same eight counties. Groups are allowed to borrow up to $2 million to assist in repairing or replacing damaged or destroyed property, equipment, inventory and business assets affected by the mid-July floods that swept across the state. Federal disaster loans are also available.
