Clay County to receive Bipartisan Safer Communities Act funding
The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is pleased to announce the 2024 Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant award recipients. Local educational and youth service organizations will receive grants to support high-quality, academic-focused afterschool programs across the state. Funds are renewable for up to five years, contingent upon continued U.S. Department of Education (USDE) support, and grantees implementing and sustaining programs that meet federal and state requirements.
The 21st CCLC grant recipients are World Vision, Inc., Barbour County; The Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle, Berkeley County; Southern Educational Services Cooperative, Fayette, Summers and Webster Counties; Step By Step, Inc., Kanawha County; Marion County Schools; and Playmates Preschool and Childcare Centers, Inc., Wayne County.
These afterschool programs offer students access to learning and development support, homework assistance, tutoring, assistance in obtaining state educational standards and enrichment activities that complement their regular academic programs during out-of-school times.
