Thursday morning at the Clay County Courthouse, the women’s club hung a wreath for Breast Cancer awareness. Sonjie Brown led the pledge of allegiance following prayer to open the ceremony. Beverly King and Fran King, both Breast Cancer survivors, spoke about their experience. Beverly is a 6 year survivor. After 8 chemotherapy sessions she was given a good, clean report. Her husband got her a long arm quilter for her 5 year celebration. Fran was diagnosed in 2010, the week before Thanksgiving. Her breast cancer was 93% estrogen and 87% progesterone fed. Fran said her and Beverly are Breast Cancer Thrivers. They have so much to live for, and to be thankful for. Since October is Breast Cancer awareness month, County Commission President Greg Fitzwater made October 8, 2015 Breast Cancer awareness day in Clay County.
