On Saturday, April 14, 2018, students from across the state competed in many different trades and technical skills in Fairmont, WV at SkillsUSA. Students from Clay County High School were there to represent their school as well as their great community.

Tanner Caldwell, a senior from Clay County High School, won first place in Electrical Construction Wiring. Tanner scored the highest in both knowledge and skills performance in the state of West Virginia. Tanner will be representing West Virginia in Electrical Construction Wiring on June 25 in Louisville, KY. He has worked very hard to reach his goal as not only a state champion, but to work in the electrical career field. Tanner is a model student at CCHS and makes our school and our community proud.
At the competition, Tanner explained that he had to take a written test before then hands on electrical test where he entered into a 4×4 booth, was given a project, had to make it work and then he was graded.
Congratulations Tanner!
