We are going to have a beginners sewing class at the Clay County Middle School in the afterschool program. There are many fields open to those who know how to sew including the garment industry, design, upholstery, crafts, quilt making, and more. Or it can be just for the sewing needs that come up around the home. It can be for fun or profit and it all begins with learning your first stitch. In the class we will be covering is the main parts of a sewing machine, how to clean and maintain it, needle and bobbin threading, basic stitches used in sewing, and maybe a small project or two. If you have a working portable sewing machine that you no longer need and would like to donate to a beginning sewist, please drop it off at the Clay County Library earmarked for the CCMS sewing class. The manual would be great to have with the machine. Please, include your contact information. In the case that the class is too small for the number of machines that may be donated, leave a note saying what you want done with it. Thank you in advance for your support!
