Secretary of State Kris Warner Reports 843 New WV Business Registrations for December of 2024

The WV Secretary of State’s Office registered 843 new businesses statewide during the month of December according to Secretary of State Kris Warner. 

Monroe County led the state in the percentage of new business growth with a total of ten new business registrations, a 1.37% increase. The Secretary of State’s Business Division reported that Wirt, Mason, Wetzel and Morgan County also experienced notable growth during the month.

Top five counties in new business growth:

  1. Monroe County – 1.37% growth
  2. Wirt County – 1.33% growth
  3. Mason County – 1.25% growth
  4. Wetzel County – 1.25% growth
  5. Morgan County – 1.20% growth

Counties that led the state in total businesses registered in December include Kanawha, Monongalia, Berkeley, Raleigh and Jefferson.

Top five counties in total businesses registered:

  1. Kanawha County – 104 new registrations
  2. Monongalia County – 76 new registrations
  3. Berkeley County – 73 new registrations
  4. Raleigh County – 50 new registrations
  5. Jefferson County – 43 new registrations

Statewide, West Virginia registered 13,518 new businesses in the previous 12-month period, from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Raleigh County led all 55 counties with a 17.97% growth rate during the one-year timespan. To review county-by-county growth, visit our Business Statistics Database.
