With Camp Creek Road getting worse and crumbling away, it is now being repaired. The road has had guard rail issues and trouble with the hillside slipping away for several years.
With it being the only access road during the flood of 2016 due to Rt. 4 being inaccessible, all the heavy traffic didn’t help these conditions. In 2017, Camp Creek bridge was replaced and this road was used for equipment moving and getting necessary supplies to the bridge for construction. This pushed the repairs back further.
BBR Drilling out of Belmont, Ohio specializes in caissons and retaining walls and will be working on this area of Camp Creek for the next coming months. Starting July 16, Camp Creek Road will be inaccessible to the general public from 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. daily. The Foreman stated that the reasoning for this was due to the road being narrow and the drilling equipment being too large for cars to pass safely. He wants to reassure the public that special allowances would be made for EMT, fire, and emergency response vehicles. They will have access at any time to respond to emergencies in the area.
BBR has been in business since 1998, and say that this job should take approximately two months to complete. They will be removing all old steel beams and constructing the new retaining wall, as well as putting in taller guard rails. After the road is reinforced and complete, it will be freshly paved and opened to the public. The work in this area is much needed and will result in a safer road when traveling this area. The cooperation and understanding of the community is appreciated during this process.
