Thursday was Homecoming night for the Panthers, and the boys were to battle the Red Devils of Calhoun in front of their queen and her court.
The game went well for the Panthers; it was like watching a waterfall. No matter what the Red Devils did, they couldn’t stop the flow of Panthers. The Red Devils did pop the score a little closer in the second period, but it was all Panthers in the end, winning the Homecoming game by the score or 82-63. Four of the Panthers went into double digits. Top shot was Tanner Faulkner with 19 followed closely by Curtis Litton with 18. Grant Krajeski came in with 16, and Colton Pritt rounded it off with 13 of his own.
With just six games left before sectionals start; the Panthers have a more than good chance of going all the way to the big dance in Charleston. Next week they go head to head against the only team they haven’t beat… Braxton. A win here would launch them with a full head of steam into sectional play.
This night was also the time to crown the 2020 Basketball Homecoming Queen of CCHS. The CCHS band and cheerleaders, dressed in their finest, got busy lining up in formation to welcome the royalty to the court including newly crowned king and queen, Hunter Jones and Tailynn Varney.
With class known only to the English, both the king and queen gracefully accepted their crowns from CCHS principal Crystal Gibson. They will no doubt represent the school well. The crown bearers were Macy Dorsey and Zeke Bullard. Congratulations to the royal couple and the rest of their court.
Freshman Princess was Katie Townsend and her escort was Elijah Armes. Sophomore Princess was Ashlee Butcher with escort Aiden Taylor. Junior Princess was Erin Mullins with escort Colton Pritt. Senior Princess was Kaylee Truman with escort Jason McKinney.
