It was like trying to light a cigar in a tornado for the Calhoun Red Devils as they took on the CCMS Mustangs Thursday evening. Taking nothing away from the Red Devils – they showed up, did what they could, gave a hundred percent to the game and provided the Mustangs a chew toy for the night. The Mustang varsity offense scored seemingly at will with little resistance. The Red Devils managed some good offense at times and scored twice to put a feather in their cap. With the score blowing the lights out on the scoreboard, the CCMS coaching staff had a little mercy and put the second string team in to get some playing time. When the game was over, the Mustangs racked up 34 points on the board while the Red Devils put up 14 points. Next week the Mustangs will go up against the Spencer Yellow Jackets. This game will definitely be a test for the Mustangs, as it always is. A win against the Yellow Jackets will give the Mustangs a shoe in for the CWVAC Championship game. Go Mustangs! In other football news the Panthers lost a heart breaker at Grafton 57-64. They will be at home this week against the Poca Dots. Go Panthers!
