It’s party time for the CCMS Mustangs. CCMS wrestling is back in the headlines and setting fire to the mats. Who needs those kissy faced, smack talking, so called pro wrestlers or boring, slow motion college wrestling? Give me Clay County style wrestling anytime. Go to a Mustang match and you will see gut busting, shoulder twisting, bone breaking action; it is not for the faint at heart. The Mustangs competed in a tri match at Midland Trail on Wednesday evening, January 15th. Wrestlers from three different middle schools were on a feeding frenzy in front of wrestling fans. Mustang wrestling, along with both basketball teams, was coming off a long winter break and it showed. The Mustangs were short some wrestlers and short some practices. Clay, Midland Trail and Eastern Greenbrier were the teams competing, and all the participants gave the fans their money’s worth. The Mustangs put up a battle, but in the end it’s tough to win at duals when you’re short wrestlers. Individually, they did well but lost both matches. I assure you the Mustangs are no push overs – they are tough, rough and dangerous. They will be in action at the WSAZ tournament on January 31st and will be at Barboursville on January 25th for the warm up. The WSAZ tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in the country for middle schools and high schools. This will be an opportunity for them to capture a big title. If you get the chance, get out and support them. Go Mustangs!
